75 Years Young

This weekend my family drove to NH to surprise my father-in-law, Ed, on his 75th birthday. The clan went out to one of our favorite restaurants, the York Harbor Inn. We had a great time. Ed's sister came too as well as most of the kids. What was especially nice for me was how well behaved Jacob and Jessica were. Jessica got to sit with her cousin Stephanie whom she adores. And Jacob got to sit with Nathaniel, and was enthralled with Nathaniel discovering how much he DIDN'T like artichokes and capers. I had the Ploughman's special (a plate of home made sausages, cheeses, and bread), and had a Sebago Brown ale to go with it.

The next day we went with my sister-in-law Tina to Short Sands beach in York. The water in Maine only warms up enough for swimming in August, and today it wasn't humid, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and the water was crystal clear. The kids loved planing in the sand, and I got to go to the Union Bluff Hotel for a Shipyard Fuggles IPA on draft.

The weekend was a perfect get-a-way for the extra hectic week that is coming up. - 4258
