Our neighbors moved to Syracuse last year, and it has been really hard on both Jessica and Jenn because they both had their best friends go away. And although they still visit once in a while, it isn’t the same. So we went to visit for a birthday party, and Jacob and I used the opportunity to spend some quality guy time. So after a rousing round of miniature golf, we headed downtown to some of Dad’s favorite places.
The most famous place downtown is Clark’s Ale House (22 beers, 1 sandwich). This is a nice quick lunch spot that has a good selection of beer. I washed down my roast beef sandwich with a Genesee Cream ale. We then moseyed over to Empire Brewing where I was able to try an Express Ale #44, in honor of Ernie Banks and the new movie that was coming out. Jacob was a good sport playing his DS, but he was getting hungry so we went over to the Blue Tusk for garlic bread. I saw some friends there who were in town for the Syracuse vs. Penn State football game and tried the Southern Tier Imperial Crème Brulee. Jacob and I then spent the rest of the afternoon at the MOST museum (really cool and a great reason to bring the family back downtown).
We met up with Jenn and Jessica at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que where I washed down dinner with a Pabst Blue Ribbon. Genesee and Pabst in the same day? It doesn’t get any better than this. - 4750
