I’m a shuttle bus when I need to be, and with Jenn out in NH with Jacob to support her mom while her dad had surgery (he’s doing great by the way), I needed to drive Jessica to her friend’s house in Syracuse for a week of camp. So we headed out Sunday morning, and after winning twice at the Alphabet Game, I dropped Jessica off. The bonus for me was hitting downtown for Brunch and brew. I was disappointed, however, since both Clark’s Alehouse and the Blue Tusk was closed. Clark’s sign says call ahead on Sundays (I didn’t) and the Blue Tusk is closed on Sunday (forgot to check the website). And after stopping at Syracuse Suds for a non-descript stout, I headed over to Empire Brewing Company.
Empire Brewing hosts a Sunday brunch, and offers quality drafts with excellent food. The music was classy blues, although a little too loud at the bar. I ordered the Burrito Del Sol, a flour tortilla filled with eggs, cheese, peppers and onions, coated with a moca heti (their version of guacamole) and accompanied with red beans and rice. It was delicious, and went well with my beer sampler. My two favorites was their cream ale and their barley wine. I know, two totally different styles but both went good with my spicy Mexican meal. It hit the spot, and fortified me for my trip home.
I had a nice drive and Jessica had a great week. - 5553
