On the Road Again!

Lots of plans, lots of travels, lots of fun. I had some business obligations that I tried to combine with my holiday weekend travel, but that didn’t work out me. So when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. So I drove down to Groton, CT with my HR representative Becky for a day trip to talk to the team there, and was able to get a tour of the one of our newest Virginia Class submarines, the NEW HAMPSHIRE (SSN 778). It was a good day, and even though Becky was from CT, we got to stop at a place that she had never been before, Eli Cannon’s taproom in Middletown (http://www.elicannons.com/). The food is great and they have about 25 different beers on tap. Becky got a North Coast pilsener, and I had a Rogue JLS Charlie and an Oskar Blues Ten Fiddy Imperial Stout.

The next day we went down to the farm for the Easter holiday, and although the annual Easter egg hunt is great for the kids, the highlight for me was to have the entire Salmon family together. And that was especially true this weekend with baby Elsa’s christening. And as you might guess, it gets pretty crazy with everyone in close confines. Greg and I went out shopping, and then grabbed a beer at Iron Hill Brewery in Wilmington, DE (http://www.ironhillbrewery.com/wilmington/) while the girls went shopping. I got to try the Russian Imperial Stout on draft, and got two bottles to go to share with everyone. The first was an Oak-Aged Quadruple that registered in at 12.5% alcohol, and then was the Wee Heavy. Both were excellent, and were best shared since both came in wine bottles.

The Easter service was nice, and was extra special in that my Nana had sewed the Christening Outfit for Elsa. My mom made a great dinner and we got more time to play with the kids. My niece Sarah had rigged up a special egg for cracking on my head. Jacob received Pokemon Diamond for his DS, and Jessica got the movie Enchanted. However, my favorite gift was the bunny ears that the Easter Bunny had gotten for Jenn. - 4577
