Moving Time!

My brother Dave and his wife Christine just bought a condo, their first place to call their own. Dave had been a life saver in helping me move when we moved into our place (snowstorm, heavy furniture, moving a washer to the second floor, nearly taking out every mailbox in the neighborhood, etc.), so I felt compelled to go down and help him. And although I didn’t have to move nearly as much (Paul and Mr. Y had been very busy), I wanted to make sure I did what I could. Jacob came down with me to help, with the promise of no curfew and unlimited video games. We were able to move the bed and a bunch of miscellaneous small things, and then we decided that we were going to keep it low key and just order pizza. I went to Caspar’s with Dave, and picked up Olde Burnside Dirty Penny Ale (wasn’t a stout, not quite a porter, but very tasty) and found an Italian beer, Menebrea 150 Anniversary beer (a 2.5 Star beer in the MJ Pocket Guide to Beer). We played video games and watched movies into the evening.

The next day we took care of a few last things, and then headed back. The drive is beautiful, especially with the snow on the ground. Jacob and I stopped at Barrington Brewery on the way back. I can recommend the Yule Ale and Jacob recommends the grilled cheese sandwich. Just a quick trip to help Dave and Christine, and to spend some guy time with Jacob. It was a nice weekend. - 4549
